Our Mission

We help people navigate life during loss.

We understand how devastating and overwhelming loss can be. That’s why we built Granate—an app to help individuals, families, and caretakers know exactly what to do before and after losing a loved one—so they can focus on what matters most.

Why “Granate”?

Our name is a play on granite, the rock known to weather any kind of storm. It’s also a reference to the pomegranate. In Greek mythology, pomegranates play a significant role in Persephone’s journey in the Underworld, representing the cycle of life and death.

“My dad died when I was 19, and it was the most excruciating time of my life. Figuring out what came next—the death benefits for my younger brother and sister, the five surprise credit cards, taking Dad's clothes out the closet—was an incredible amount of emotional and physical labor. We needed help—someone to tell us what to do and when so we could focus on rebuilding. Everyone will encounter a loss. And everyone will need help. That’s why we built Granate.”
